About Us
Élevé Dance Education Awards are about growing dancers, building knowledge and supporting teachers. Founded out of a passion for sharing dance science and helping dancers see the many opportunities available to them in dance related fields, Élevé aims to broaden dancers' understanding beyond performance skill and technique. We do this through our research/creative practice based awards which expose students to new ideas in a range of topics related to dance including dance science, choreography, history of dance, nutrition, anatomy, performance technologies and teacher practice. The awards target students in years 7 - 11 with the dual aim of developing well rounded artists and showing recreational students alternative career paths related to dance. In addition to this, we also produce resources for students and dance teachers to support learning both in the education system and in dance studios.
How the Awards Work
Each Award comes with a task booklet, and content information or seminars. In these task booklets are activities that require students to engage in critical or creative thinking. Students complete tasks to earn a certain number of points, these tasks are marked either by their supervising teacher, or by one of our Élevé tutors. Once the requirements for the award are met, students are sent their certificate, and along the way will have gained valuable skills and knowledge to assist them in their future career paths.
Stage One awards have no prerequisites and are open to students year 7+. Most Stage Two awards have a prerequiste at Stage One to ensure foundational knowledge is well established.
